Phase One Automated Pathology Laboratory

BKS were contracted by the NHS to determine and install a suspended ceiling and lighting system to suit the nature of the laboratory. The laboratory is fully functional 24hrs a day and access to the ceiling area was complicated due to the nature of the room and machinery in constant use. Evidently we knew that the installation would be a challenge for BKS Construction with limited work space and by having to constantly work over multi million pound machinery and pathologists. Working hours were from 6pm til 6am because at this time less medical staff were working. The system used was an anti corrosive grid with a Rockfon Medicare plus tile which provided all the properties required for this particular type of laboratory.

Phase Two Main tower circulation and ward entrance area

Phase two at the hospital required the removal of the existing metal pan ceiling in preparation for the new Rockfon Medi Care ceiling system. In addition to the ceiling installation a new lighting system was installed.
